While Inserra will open the new store in time for the holiday season, the family-owned firm’s chairman and CEO Lawrence Inserra Jr. said the company plans to “carry out an extensive renovation to modernize the space over the next year.”

“We are proud and excited to open The Fresh Grocer of Fieldstone Plaza … It has been an honor for our family to serve New Jersey shoppers since 1954, and this new store reflects our continued commitment to community. We welcome customers and thank them in advance for their patience as we continue to renovate the space to enhance the shopping experience,” he said.

Growing its footprint

A member of Wakefern., Mahwah-headquartered Inserra operates 23 ShopRites and two Price Rite Marketplace stores in Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties. It also has four stores in Rockland County, N.Y.

has about two dozen locations. Within New Jersey, it can be found in North Haledon, Colonia, Cedar Grove and Washington Township (Bergen County). The brand specializes in providing high quality fresh food and groceries in both urban and suburban areas.

The soon-to-open location in Ringwood is among 10 stores in New Jersey that Stop & Shop said it was closing because they were “underperforming.”

Earlier this month, ethnic grocer Food Bazaar Supermarket took over former Stop & Shop sites in Carlstadt and Piscataway.

will also soon close two stores in Edison, as well as locations in Howell, Phillipsburg, Franklin Township, Point Pleasant Beach and Jackson. Outside of New Jersey, the Ahold Delhaize-owned chain plans to close eight stores in Massachusetts, seven stores in New York, five stores in Connecticut and two stores in Rhode Island.
