A treatment center brand for addiction and mental health support backed by “Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino will soon be up and running.
Ahead of The Archangels Centers’ launch in Woodbridge and East Windsor, patients may now connect with admissions teams to learn more about insurance and payment options for treatment.
A spokesperson told NJBIZ that the facilities anticipate a June 1 opening.
Founded in partnership with Ascend Behavioral Health Network, The Archangel Centers provide comprehensive care for adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues and concurrent disorders. Treatment programs include a mix of medical detox, therapy, group support and aftercare.
Inspired by Sorrentino’s personal journey from addiction to long-term recovery, The Archangel Centers seeks to combine his passion for helping others with Ascend Behavioral Health Network’s clinical expertise.
The 42-year-old Manalapan native has been open about his past addiction and recovery. In December 2023, he published his memoir, “Reality Check: Making the Best of the Situation – How I Overcame Addiction, Loss and Prison.”
In a social media post last fall unveiling his plans to open a treatment center, Sorrentino wrote, “Against all odds, I turned my life around. Today, I’m happily married with three amazing kids, a published author, nine years sober, and about to launch my own treatment centers … What once seemed impossible is now my reality,” he said.
“I put in the work, never gave up, and now my story is someone else’s roadmap to survival,” Sorrentino wrote. “Today, I’m on the front lines, ready to save lives. My experience, strength, and hope will help addicts find recovery, one day at a time.”
On its website, The Archangel Centers said it is proud to partner with Sorrentino. The company highlighted how his experiences have made him “a powerful advocate for mental health awareness.”
“His commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding these challenges aligns perfectly with our values at Archangel Centers. Together, we aim to inspire hope and encourage others to seek the help they need, proving that recovery is possible for everyone,” it said.
After its first facilities launch, the brand plans to expand to other locations but has not yet said where.
“As we continue to grow, our commitment to our community remains unwavering. We strive to break the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction, advocating for awareness and understanding. With our partnership with Ascend Recovery, we’re excited to reach even more individuals and families in need of support…we are not just a treatment facility; we are a community of hope, resilience, and transformation,” the center said.
The Archangel Centers’ leadership includes the managing partners of Ascend Behavioral Health Network, CEO Samantha Hewett and Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Joseph Milisitz. Based in Phoenix, parent company Ascend Behavioral Health Network owns and operates several behavioral health facilities across the U.S.
Ian Tracy and Mike Smilo also joined The Archangel Centers’ leadership team as partners.
Smilo runs his own investment firm focused on lifestyle, music and entertainment, medical and aesthetics, and food & beverage. His other ventures include last fall’s opening of the first of several planned Bang Cookies locations in the region.
Smilo’s portfolio also features VIO Med Spa in Holmdel, 14 European Wax Centers in the New York City metropolitan area and ProSports RX in Las Vegas, as well as restaurant partnerships in Manhattan.
