The world’s sixth largest consumer goods company, , is moving its U.S. headquarters from Englewood Cliffs to Hoboken.

The move was first reported Aug. 26 by NorthJersey.com. It comes after a major project to reimagine the company’s Englewood Cliffs campus was recently completed in 2018. Unilever confirmed the news to NJBIZ.

“Unilever’s U.S. headquarters will be moving to Hoboken, New Jersey, in March 2025, from our current location at 700 Sylvan Ave., Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey,” a company spokesperson told NJBIZ. “Unilever’s Research & Development teams will continue to have a presence in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, at 800 Sylvan Ave. We are proud to continue working and contributing to the state economy of New Jersey, with a presence in both cities.”

Unilever has signed a long-term lease with at the . The company will occupy three full floors, covering a 111,000-square-foot space in the 111 River Street Building.

A walkable, transit-oriented experience

The office and retail development site offers 1.5 million square feet of Class A space in three buildings along the Hudson River waterfront. SJP Properties division SJP Project Solutions will oversee project and construction management to provide a custom buildout for Unilever.

At the Hoboken site, Unilever joins a tenant roster that includes Hain Celestial, Lipton, Walmart, Newell Brands and more.

“Unilever made a strategic decision to relocate their North American Headquarters to the New Jersey waterfront from Englewood Cliffs to gain a competitive edge in accessing the vast labor pool in New York City and the surrounding metro area while retaining existing talent with easy access to Bergen County,” said Alexander Erdos, senior vice president – Leasing and Development at SJP. “Strength of ownership, ability to execute a competitively priced, high-quality tenant buildout and best-in-class operations were significant factors in the company’s decision to relocate to 111 River St. Further, Hoboken offers a walkable, safe, transit-oriented experience that tenants desire across all markets.”
