The new route will begin June 2 and will operate four times a week with nonstop service. It provides direct access between this region and central Mexico.

Flights from EWR will run Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Meanwhile, departures from Puebla will operate Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Officials said the service expands EWR’s growing list of international destinations. It also supports the agency’s ongoing efforts to expand global connectivity from its airports.

“Expanding international service at Newark Liberty is a key part of our strategy to strengthen the global connectivity of the region’s airports,” said Frank Radics, Port Authority New Jersey airports general manager. “‘ new nonstop service to Puebla adds another important destination to our growing international network and reflects continued demand for direct, reliable air service linking our region with major economic and cultural centers across the continent and the globe.”

Welcome to Puebla

Puebla is located about 80 miles southeast of Mexico City. The destination is known for its UNESCO-designated historic center, colonial architecture, culinary traditions, and growing industrial and educational sectors.

Volaris already operates flights from Newark to Guadalajara and San Salvador. The airline said the new route reflects its continued focus on affordable cross-border connectivity.

“By linking Newark with Puebla, we are offering our customers more and better travel options, while strengthening economic, cultural, and family ties between two vibrant markets,” said Volaris Executive Vice President Holger Blankenstein.

The addition builds on a record year for international travel at EWR, which welcomed 15.4 million international passengers in 2025.
