Wakefern Food Corp. is adding another option for on-demand grocery delivery.

Under a partnership announced April 23, customers can now order groceries and daily essentials via third-party platform DoorDash from the retail co-op’s vast network of supermarkets across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Headquartered in Keasbey, Wakefern’s membership owns and operates 365 supermarkets under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Fairway Market, Gourmet Garage and Dearborn Market banners.

DoorDash‘s chief revenue officer, Tom Pickett, described the relationship with Wakefern as “one of our most exciting partnerships to date.” The platform first began offering grocery delivery in 2020 and now serves 150,000 non-restaurant stores globally.

“It not only brings increased selection to DoorDash Marketplace, but gives time back to a variety of shoppers – from those looking for budget friendly value options to specialty shoppers looking for hard to find high-quality foods,” he said.

Wakefern President Mike Stigers commented, “In addition to our own in-house full-service grocery fulfillment offering, DoorDash joins our digital portfolio providing consumers yet another way to shop Wakefern banners. By joining forces with DoorDash, which offers on-demand, fast-delivery of grocery staples and household essentials, we can make grocery shopping even more convenient for our shoppers.”

Several banners within the cooperative already offer grocery delivery services via Instacart, including ShopRite, Fairway Market, The Fresh Grocer and Price Rite Marketplace.

To celebrate the news partnership between Wakefern and DoorDash, shoppers can enjoy 40% off orders of $50 or more through May 12 by using the promo code FOOD40. Additionally, all participating Wakefern stores will be available on DashPass, which is DoorDash’s membership program that offers free delivery, reduced service fees and other benefits on eligible orders from thousands of restaurants, grocery and convenience stores nationwide.
