Weco, a Massachusetts-based service that brings chef-crafted meals made from scratch daily to customers’ doorsteps, is expanding into New Jersey Jan. 4, starting with Bergen County.

In a press release announcing its Garden State debut, ‘s founder and chief executive officer Jennifer Fremont-Smith said, “We know how busy families and individuals are. Weco is dedicated to making it easier to decide ‘what’s for dinner’ and to gather people around the dinner table for delicious, freshly prepared meals without the hassle of cooking.”

“By expanding into these new towns, we’re able to reach more community members who can benefit from the freshness and convenience of a chef-crafted meal personally delivered right to their door every day,” she added.

Unlike many other meal services, Weco does not require a subscription, nor have an order minimum, and allows customers to sign up to receive a weekly menu and order on whatever days they choose.

The meals – which are prepared by chefs in local kitchens using regionally and ethically sourced ingredients – are delivered in environmentally friendly packaging and ready to heat, plate and enjoy, according to Weco.

Menus change weekly, based on what’s locally and seasonally available as well as customer feedback and the creativity of its chefs. They typically offer about two dozen items, including full meals, children’s dishes, soups, appetizers and cocktail mixers, according to Weco. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available.

Launched in March 2020, Weco has grown to serve 450 communities throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Connecticut.

As part of its Jan. 4 expansion, Weco will also begin serving customers in Rockland and Nassau counties in New York.

A Weco spokesperson told NJBIZ the company expects to add other cities and towns in New Jersey soon.
