Bergen Town Center rebrand adds celebs, food tastings

A Real Housewive, New York Giant and more will welcome updates in Paramus

After refreshing its signage, landscaping and wayfinding markers, is celebrating the shopping center’s new look with a two-day community event.

Scheduled for June 20-21, “BTC Reimagined” will include appearances by New Jersey . Guests scheduled to appear include New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito and “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Melissa Gorga, as well as previews of soon-to-open eateries, like Ani Ramen and Tacoria.

Considered to be ‘ flagship retail destination, the Paramus outlet mall has a lineup that generates more than 11 million visits annually. Its 70-plus tenants include Whole Foods, CVS Pharmacy, Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, Nike, Adidas, Bluestone Lane, Cava, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Target and Old Navy.

Urban Edge acquired Bergen Town Center in 2015 as part of Vornado Realty Trust’s decision to spin off its mall subsidiary into an independent, public company.

Since then, Urban Edge has reportedly invested at least $50 million in renovations and redevelopment projects designed to enhance the 1 million-square-foot outlet mall’s offerings and appeal.

‘The center of Paramus’ retail mecca’

Bassam Mhich, senior vice president of asset management, property operations for Urban Edge, said, “Bergen Town Center has long been a primary destination for both essential and discretionary shopping and also a gathering spot for the local community.”

“After 67 years at the center of Paramus’ retail mecca, this new experience will showcase the newest concepts that have chosen to locate here as well as draw even more,” Mhich said.

During June 20’s “Taste of BTC,” visitors can sample food from the mall’s most popular restaurants and vote for which place serves “Bergen’s Best Bite.” Participating establishments will be Ani Ramen, Bluestone Lane, Charley’s Philly Steaks, Chopt Creative Salad Co., Kimchi Smoke BBQ, Meltemi Greek Restaurant, Miller’s Ale House, Mori Mori, Ridgewood Station Café, Tacoria and Villa Italian Kitchen.

Attendees can also meet Josh Capon, a celebrity chef, restauranteur and television personality who lives in Tenafly; or score some free samples from Pepsi to go with their restaurant bites. The first 400 people will receive a limited edition BTC Moscow mule mug, too.

A “Taste of BTC” will be held 3–6 p.m. in the court near Kohls.

The June 21 itinerary includes rooftop morning yoga and Zumba classes, followed by meet and greet indoors with DeVito, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Gorga, from 2–4 p.m., as well as more giveaways.
