Dave’s Hot Chicken is preparing to launch its fifth restaurant in New Jersey.

Located at 2401 Route 22 in Union, the fast-growing spicy chicken chain is scheduled to open Sept. 13.

The eatery’s menu includes sliders and chicken tenders – whose spice levels are adjustable anywhere from none to “Reaper.” It also offers sides, such as house-made mac & cheese, kale slaw, fries and cheese fries.

With financial backers including celebrity fans Drake, Maria Shriver, Michael Strahan and Samuel L. Jackson, Dave’s Hot Chicken has grown to more than 200 locations across the U.S., Canada, Qatar and Dubai since it began seven years ago as a parking lot pop-up in West Hollywood.

Expanding in NJ

The upcoming restaurant marks the third of 14 locations planned by Amit Patel, a franchisee who opened New Jersey’s first Dave’s Hot Chicken last year in Wayne.

Since then, Patel added a spot in Kearny and expects to launch soon in Secaucus. He also owns a number of Buffalo Wild Wings and Blaze Pizza stores in New Jersey.

Within the Garden State, Dave’s Hot Chicken can also be found in Cherry Hill and Ocean Township.

Cherry Hill is the first of seven units Jason Soares and Luis Garcia will own and operate. The pair of seasoned restauranteurs also have several Dunkin’ franchises.

Meanwhile, Ocean Township marks the first of nine Dave’s Hot Chicken spots run by Noraiz Khan and Kashif Khan. The two brothers from East Brunswick also have Moe’s Southwest Grill restaurants in New Jersey and New York.

At Union Plaza Shopping Center in Union, Dave’s Hot Chicken joins a retail lineup that includes ShopRite, Best Buy, DSW, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Marshalls, Habit Burger, Foot Locker, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Aspen Dental.

Following its grand opening, Dave’s Hot Chicken will be open Sunday to Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight.
