Edison-based cybersecurity company Zerify Inc. is unveiling a new video conferencing feature that allows a host to lock a virtual public meeting with a single click, instantly preventing unauthorized access via shared emails or public links.
Created in partnership with 323 Link, a Tennessee-headquartered provider of audio-visual solutions, the “Room Lock” function seeks to secure meetings held on the Zerify Meet platform without sacrificing ease of use.
Announcing the arrival of Room Lock, Zerify CEO Mark Kay said, “If you would have asked me six months ago, I would have thought that every video conferencing vendor would have had a feature like this already in place, but then again it doesn’t really surprise me because no other vendor in the video conferencing marketplace is a cybersecurity company. We are the only one, and that gives us a huge cyber advantage over all the other competitors, i.e. Zoom, Teams, Webex, etc.”
After catapulting into the mainstream during the pandemic, video conferencing has become the quintessential communication tool for businesses and has only accelerated amid the shift toward remote and hybrid work models.
However, the transition has highlighted concerns associated with virtual meeting security, especially in the wake of recent cyber attacks against industry giants like Zoom and Microsoft Teams, which, Zerify said exposed “at least two major cybersecurity shortcomings for platforms” — a lack of advanced cybersecurity access control capabilities and an inability to protect the endpoint from eavesdropping spyware.
According to Zerify, Room Lock is now being introduced in Tennessee’s District 9 Court System, providing the judiciary a way to conduct virtual proceedings in a secure and efficient manner.
“Launching a new feature like Room Lock is always exciting, but launching it in Tennessee’s District 9 Court system elevates that excitement to a whole new level,” Kay said.
Don Cottam, CEO of 323Link, added, “This feature is exactly what the judges have been asking for. Our one-touch platform can now launch custom links for Zerify’s video conferencing platform. This gives the judge complete confidence without dealing with passcodes and other obstacles to get into the call. They hit a button, and the Zerify meeting is live. Once the call is up, the judge simply locks the door … This new feature is going to transform how many federal, state and local services operate.”
With more than two decades of experience in cybersecurity solutions, Zerify rebranded (from StrikeForce Technologies Inc.) last year as part of an effort to highlight its focus on secure video conferencing and endpoint gap security.
The company’s technologies are aimed at helping to prevent cyber theft and data security breaches for consumers, corporations and government agencies through powerful multifactor authentication and keystroke encryption, as well as protecting cameras, microphones and speakers, keeping computers and confidential data secure even when one is offline and not on a video conference.
