Inspira Health has delivered an expanded maternity unit in South Jersey.
The new, 36,000-square-foot space debuted Aug. 17 at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. The work doubles the unit’s prior footprint.
Beyond responding to rising regional demand, the project’s completion marks another milestone in Inspira Health‘s broader, $257 million expansion and renovation of the acute care hospital.
The new maternity unit increased staffed maternity beds from 20 to 38. The space is designed to support maternity patients, and their families, through labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. Inspira Health Assistant Vice President, Maternal Child Health Christi Dooley noted the new spaces help support privacy and communication.

Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill is a five-ribbon Maternity Hospital, as designated by Newsweek. The hospital was one of 19 from New Jersey to rank on the national list.
“More families are choosing Inspira to welcome their babies, and this investment gives our teams the space, capacity and flexibility to meet that demand while continuing to provide high-quality care close to home,” said Lydia Stockman, executive vice president and chief clinical officer, Inspira Health.
Work on the maternity unit began in March 2025. Inspira Health broke ground on the overall expansion at Mullica Hill in 2024. The project also includes:
Since the start, the healthcare system said it has decided to fully develop the tower, rather than to reserve, that space. Upon delivery, Inspira expects to add 86 beds, boosting its licensed bed count to 296. It will also add a 24-bed observation unit to improve patient flow and reduce emergency department boarding.
According to Inspira, the expanded plans include:
