Discount grocer Lidl US is getting ready to launch its newest supermarket in New Jersey.
Located at 545 Route 46 in Totowa, the store is scheduled to begin welcoming customers Feb. 4.
As part of the first day of shopping at the 27,245-square-foot store, Lidl will hold a 7:40 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. Prior to the festivities, the grocer will give away free freshly baked croissants and coffee to attendees.
Known for fresh produce, meat, bakery items and an array of household products at low prices, German-born Lidl has more than 12,000 stores worldwide. Since establishing a U.S. headquarters a decade ago, the brand has launched nearly 200 locations along the East Coast.
Locally, Lidl has over two dozen stores, including sites in Paramus, Livingston, Freehold, Morristown, Hackensack, Bergenfield, Park Ridge, Elmwood Park, Weehawken, Belleville, Bayonne, Union, Garwood, Woodbridge, Hazlet, North Brunswick, Cherry Hill, Brick Township and Eatontown.
Within Passaic County, Lidl already has a store in Pompton Lakes.
Following its grand opening, Lidl in Totowa will operate 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
At Totowa Commons, the supermarket is taking a portion of space previously occupied by off-price chain Marshalls. Fellow tenants at the Urban Edge Properties-owned power center include Staples, The Home Depot and Fortunoff Backyard Store.
