MetLife Stadium upgrades fan experience, sets attendance records in 2025

It has been a summer to remember at .

As football season gets ready to kick off, including with the preseason New York Giants vs. New York Jets game Aug. 16, the stadium has had its busiest year in history.

That, of course, has included major events, such as the recent FIFA Club World Cup – with MetLife playing host to nine matches, including the Final. That event drew 81,118 fans July 13, when Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0. It also sets the stage for next year’s main event, the FIFA World Cup 2026 – when eight matches will take place at MetLife Stadium, including that Final July 19, 2026.

Also included in this summer’s run was the recent first-ever, two-night WWE SummerSlam Aug. 2–3. The event drew 113,722 fans, making it the best SummerSlam in WWE history. NJBIZ attended Aug. 2 and reported on SummerSlam.

In fact, MetLife Stadium will host a record 40 events – attended by nearly 2 million fans before the NFL regular season even kicks off Sept. 7, including 23 concerts. Those figures top the previous records of 25 events, 18 concerts, and 1.3 million fans in 2023.

2025 milestones include:
  • Back-to-back sold-out shows by Kendrick Lamar and SZA May 8–9
  • Two sold-out Shakira shows May 15–16
  • Five sold-out Beyonce shows – making her the No. 1-selling artist in MetLife Stadium history May 22, 24-25, 28–29
  • Three consecutive sold-out shows by The Weeknd June 5–7
  • Three straight sold-out shows by Zach Bryan July 18–20
  • Currently, in the midst of a stretch of four concerts in five days by three different artists – a stadium first, including:
    • New Jersey’s own, My Chemical Romance Aug. 9
    • North Jersey natives the Jonas Brothers Aug. 10
    • Chris Brown Aug. 12–13
  • Three preseason games in seven days:
    • Giants vs. Jets Aug. 16
    • Giants vs. Patriots Aug. 21
    • Jets vs. Eagles Aug. 22
  • Record-breaking concert season ends with System of a Down and Korn Aug. 27–28, followed by Oasis Aug. 31-Sept. 1
  • Other events over the last few months have also included:
    • The AMA Supercross Championship April 19
    • NFL Draft Party April 24
    • Monster Jam May 3
    • And much more

And on Aug. 12, MetLife Stadium announced multiple stadium improvements aimed at elevating the as the NFL season approaches.

New enhancements in place for the 2025 season include:
  • Four cornerstone video boards, with an improved 8 millimeter-resolution LED for higher-contrast, crisp on-screen content and better viewing angles;
    • The first phase-in will replace all LED video and digital inventory throughout the stadium, which is expected to be completed in early 2026
  • A brand-new audio system that encompasses more 1,100 new loudspeakers installed in the main seating bowl, with updated subwoofers and the latest in amplification technology
  • An updated distributed antenna system aimed at increasing 5G cellular capacity and coverage in the seating bowl and in all stadium clubs – as well as on the field
  • The installation of two sensory pods to provide a more inclusive and comfortable experience for guests with sensory processing needs

And as noted before, these developments all come as MetLife Stadium, the great Garden State, and the region take centerstage for a starring role in next year’s World Cup, which is projected to bring more than 1 million fans to the area, resulting in lots of jobs and a multibillion-dollar economic impact —in addition to drawing more than a billion eyeballs globally.
