It has been a summer to remember at MetLife Stadium.
As football season gets ready to kick off, including with the preseason New York Giants vs. New York Jets game Aug. 16, the stadium has had its busiest year in history.
That, of course, has included major events, such as the recent FIFA Club World Cup – with MetLife playing host to nine matches, including the Final. That event drew 81,118 fans July 13, when Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0. It also sets the stage for next year’s main event, the FIFA World Cup 2026 – when eight matches will take place at MetLife Stadium, including that Final July 19, 2026.
Also included in this summer’s run was the recent first-ever, two-night WWE SummerSlam Aug. 2–3. The event drew 113,722 fans, making it the best SummerSlam in WWE history. NJBIZ attended Aug. 2 and reported on SummerSlam.
In fact, MetLife Stadium will host a record 40 events – attended by nearly 2 million fans before the NFL regular season even kicks off Sept. 7, including 23 concerts. Those figures top the previous records of 25 events, 18 concerts, and 1.3 million fans in 2023.
And on Aug. 12, MetLife Stadium announced multiple stadium improvements aimed at elevating the fan experience as the NFL season approaches.

And as noted before, these developments all come as MetLife Stadium, the great Garden State, and the region take centerstage for a starring role in next year’s World Cup, which is projected to bring more than 1 million fans to the area, resulting in lots of jobs and a multibillion-dollar economic impact —in addition to drawing more than a billion eyeballs globally.
“MetLife Stadium continually searches for new ways to improve our guest experience,” said Ron VanDeVeen, venue president and CEO. “We believe these enhancements will provide an engaging event-day atmosphere for our guests.”
