SHI International marked the opening of its new AI & Cyber Labs during an April 8 ribbon-cutting ceremony in Piscataway.
As NJBIZ reported in October, the new facility is co-located in SHI’s Ridge Data Center – a multimillion-dollar investment that is one of the most significant private AI infrastructure initiatives in the region. According to the company, the move solidifies New Jersey’s role as a hub for cutting-edge technology.
The facility, which NJBIZ had the opportunity to tour, is an impressive space – equipped with NVIDIA-powered infrastructure. It provides businesses and organizations support through every stage of their AI journey. Additionally, the design aims to foster collaboration between a slew of stakeholders across academia, government, industry and more.
“We’ve been working on trying to create a facility in which our customers, our partners and SHI can bring expertise and experience to really ideate, imagine and adopt technology as quickly as possible – in the most cost-effective manner. Which is why the idea of this AI Lab was born,” said SHI International President and CEO Thai Lee. “Very, very excited about this opportunity to move really quickly, very effectively and efficiently with our customers and vendor partners.”
Gov. Phil Murphy was on hand for the ceremony. He noted how excited he was to be here – thanking SHI for all that the company already does here in the great Garden State. SHI is a global technology powerhouse with headquarters in Somerset – along with a presence in other areas of the state, including this Piscataway facility.
“SHI was born in Jersey – and with this new hub, you are doubling down on your commitment to stay and grow in our state,” said Murphy. “And we are incredibly proud – we wear that as a badge of honor.”
“By helping everyone, from academic institutions to small businesses, unlock the potential of this technology – you are creating a world of new opportunities,” the governor continued. “And by meeting customers where they are and empowering them to go one step further – you’re helping them, as your team says, explore their possible. And maybe even to redefine what is possible.
“Because that is what we do here in New Jersey. Where others may see an obstacle and think that is where the path ends – we have always found a way to get past it.”
As he closed out his remarks, the governor thanked SHI for continuing the great Jersey tradition of blazing trails.
“And I really look forward to seeing where you will take us next,” Murphy said.
