  • Jefferson Stratford Hospital recently celebrated its 1,000th robotic surgery using the da Vinci Xi surgical system. Robotic surgeries began at the hospital in January 2022.   • Inserra Supermarkets Inc.'s ShopRite of Jersey City unveiled a special-edition Cheerios box featuring winners of the annual ShopRite Partners in Caring Cheerios Contest March 26, sponsored in partnership with General Mills. The store raised $13,500 for local food pantries. Associate Barbara Avilez represented the store on this year's Box. ShopRite of Jersey City awarded $2,500 to local food pantry the Sharing Place.   • This year, 10 Inserra Supermarkets ShopRite stores are among the 52 top fundraising locations for the Partners in Caring Cheerios Contest, with a combined total of over $212,902. Like Jersey City, the ShopRite of Hoboken is also a top fundraiser, raising $5,000 for hunger fighting efforts. Store team members Tony Castelli and Egna Campos are featured on the special edition Cheerio Box. Here, Inserra Family members and Shoprite of Hoboken team members, including Marie Inserra, Laura Dupont, Theresa Larsen, Kyle Dupont, present a check on March 26 for $2,500 to Anthony Forbes from the Hoboken Shelter.<br />

  • For the first time, the Gateway Family YMCA and the Loyalty Foundation held an exhibition match between two new esports program teams, The AscendancY at The Gateway Family YMCA in Elizabeth and The Circuits at the Newark School of Data Science & Information Technology. The AscendancY Esports Team is a competitive video gaming league for individuals in grades 7-12 with a passion and commitment to weekly practice sessions and competitions.<br />

  • Union County-based Inroads to Opportunities, a nonprofit human services agency that provides programs and services to individuals with disabilities, recently celebrated National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in March with an Awards Luncheon. At its Roselle headquarters, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to The Hyde and Watson Foundation; The Columbia Bank Foundation: The Union County Heart Grant; The Westfield Service League; Julienne Cherry, president & CEO of United Way Greater Union County; Deana Mesaros, director, Division Of Strategic Planning at Union County Department of Economic Development; and Gina Iosim, director, Community Prosecution Division at Union County Prosecutor's Office.<br />

  • A second cohort of 20 Atlantic City residents recently completed the 16-week Atlantic City Infrastructure Program, an energy workforce training program for city residents provided by the City of Atlantic City and Atlantic City Electric. The graduation celebration was held March 15 at Stockton University’s Atlantic City Academic Center with graduates, their families and numerous officials from the region. Training took place at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Worthington Campus in Atlantic City, which also provided the program education in partnership with the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board.<br />
