  • The Fulton Forward Foundation, an independent, nonprofit private foundation funded by Fulton Bank, announced a $125,000 commitment to the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) June 15, a global educational nonprofit focused on bringing the power of entrepreneurship to youth in low-income communities. The funds will be provided over a four-year period and used to support NFTE’s Aspring Entrepreneurs Program serving students in the Mid-Atlantic region.   • Summit Health Cares hosted the first annual Summit Challenge at The Park in Berkeley Heights June 5 – National Cancer Survivor Day – welcoming more than 50 teams of local participants. Cancer patients, survivors, doctors, community members and others tackled a 2.5-mile multistage challenge course, climbing, crawling, balancing and jumping along to raise money for cancer patients, with funds going to the Summit Health Cares’ Cancer Comfort Project. The event – described as a huge success – is slated to return in October 2023. The Summit Health Cares foundation was established by Summit Health in 2013.
  • SNOW Partners CEO Joe Hession presented a check for $25,000 to members of the Vernon Township Police Athletic League (PAL) June 8. The donation from Mountain Creek Resort and the Joseph P. Hession Foundation will help support Vernon Township PAL and its after-school youth programs, which includes a ski program that offers a cost-effective way for the municipality’s youth to learn the necessary skills to ski and snowboard. The mission of the Vernon Township PAL is to build relationships between the community and police department to develop productive, active leaders through events and programs. The Joseph P. Hession Foundation is the charitable arm of SNOW Partners and named after the father of founding partners, Joe and Patrick Hession.   • Provident Bank recently bestowed a $10,000 donation to Spring Lake Toys Foundation Founder and President Paulette Pera Laurenzi.   • On June 13, Hudson Regional Hospital’s leadership and staff recognized two of its health care heroes – Deborah Deering and Nancy Brobeck – for their respective 42 and 40 years of service - and counting - at the facility located at 55 Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus.   • RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey in collaboration with the Somerset Patriots (the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate) celebrated cancer survivors June 7, bringing together more than 200 survivors and their families at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater where 13-Year old cancer survivor Grace Eline and Dr. Rahul Parikh, medical director of the Laurie Proton Therapy Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
