Jeffrey Kanige//March 27, 2023

March 27, 2023 Edition of NJBIZTimes like these demonstrate the importance of the health care industry to New Jersey’s economy. The sector’s impact has been well documented in dollar terms over the years and officials at levels profess to recognize the critical role health care companies play – not only in providing care but also keeping the state in business. This year’s Health Care Power 50 list reflects another side of the economic story. Yes, the big hospital systems are all well-represented, along with the academic institutions that keep the talent pipeline flowing.

But the latest iteration of the list also includes new companies – startups providing energy and innovation and spinoffs from larger companies adding agility to the field. That those companies chose to set up shop here is a testament to the business ecosystem in New Jersey. The highly educated workforce. The research infrastructure. The critical mass of skills developed by the “Medicine Chest of the World.” All of these factors contribute to attracting and retaining important players in the health care industry. So, check out the profiles and let us know what you think. As always, the top 10 honorees are presented in numerical order, the remainder are listed alphabetically.

Methodology

The power lists are compiled by the NJBIZ editorial staff based on our reporting throughout the past year with input from experts in a variety of fields and recommendations from our readers. The staff looks for people who have gained public attention – and perhaps acclaim – for their professional accomplishments and public service. Each list identifies individuals who, through their efforts, are helping to make New Jersey a better place to live, work and do business. Honorees are not necessarily better at their jobs than others in their profession, but they have contributed meaningfully to the advancement of the public interest through their work and/or community service.
