As part of an ongoing expansion effort, international value fashion retailer Primark is launching a new store in New Jersey.

Located at Newport Centre in Jersey City, the 37,500-square-foot store is scheduled to open Aug. 14.

Founded in 1969, Primark is known for its affordable everyday essentials and trendy apparel for women, men and children; beauty products; and homewares and accessories. Globally, it employs more than 80,000 associates across its 450 stores.

Since entering the U.S. in 2015, Primark has opened 26 locations. Within New Jersey, the chain has stores at American Dream in East Rutherford, Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold and The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth.

By the end of 2026, Primark aims to have 530 stores worldwide. In the U.S., the goal is to have 60 stores by then.

Ahead of its grand opening in Jersey City, Primark said it is looking to fill full- and part-time positions. According to the company, sales associates start with a base pay of $15 an hour and receive 50 cent per hour increases at six months and 12 months of continued employment.

In a statement, Primark U.S. President Kevin Tulip said, “Primark opened its first store in New Jersey in June 2016 and since that time we’ve learned so much about this shopper and their love of our amazing products at amazing prices.”

“We are so excited to bring ‘Primania’ to Jersey City with the opening of our Newport Centre store, offering incredible value and style for even more families and fashion lovers across the Northeast,” he added.

To celebrate its Aug. 14 launch in Jersey City, Primark will host a weekend-long event featuring a DJ, giveaways and delicious treats for early arrivers.

On Aug. 16, fan-favorite characters Bluey and Bingo will be on hand for a meet-and-greet at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The new store will also have Primark’s Bluey collection of apparel and merchandised inspired by the hit show. For more details, visit this Eventbrite link.
