Sprouts Farmers Market is expanding its Central Jersey presence.

After signing a lease at 72 Princeton Hightstown Road in East Windsor, the organic and natural grocery store expects to open by the end of 2026, according to a spokesperson.

“We’re excited to bring fresh, better-for-you products to Central Jersey,” the media representative told NJBIZ. They also said additional details about hiring efforts and grand opening activities will come out closer to the opening date next year.

Founded in 2002, Sprouts offers a wide selection of natural and organic foods. Products include fresh produce, meat, poultry, seafood, baked goods, vitamins, household items, body care, dairy products and packaged groceries.

The Phoenix-based chain has more than 460 stores in 24 states. Since opening its first New Jersey outpost six years ago in Marlton, Sprouts has added stores in Aberdeen, Haddonfield Township and West Deptford.

At East Windsor Village shopping center, Sprouts joins a tenant mix that also includes Target, TJ Maxx, Bath & Body Works and Patel Brothers.

According to property owner Kimco Realty, Sprouts will occupy the majority of a 30,000-square-foot space previously occupied by Kohl’s. Earlier this year, the retailer closed 27 underperforming locations nationwide – including its East Windsor store.

The other portion of the former Kohl’s store will be split and made available for a tenant on spec, the real estate investment trust said.
