Target plans to add two new stores in New Jersey.

After an expected summer 2025 grand opening at 325 Route 202 in Flemington, the big box chain will follow it up with a scheduled fall 2025 launch at 235 Prospect Ave. in West Orange, according to a spokesperson for LMC serves as exclusive leasing and managing agent for the two properties.

At Flemington Marketplace, the 75,525-square-foot store will offer drive-up and order pick-up services as well as feature a CVS Pharmacy and Starbucks café.

It will join a retail lineup that includes co-anchors Kohl’s, Michaels and Aldi. The shopping center’s dining mix features Chili’s, Panera Bread, Poke Café, Cold Stone Creamery and a soon-to-open Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Fellow tenants will include Whole Foods Market, Chipotle, Verizon, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Dogtopia, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses and Club Pilates.

A Target spokesperson told NJBIZ the Flemington location will open Aug. 17, but there was not a specific date set yet for West Orange.

The upcoming openings are part of Target’s larger strategy aimed at driving more than $15 billion in sales growth across its multi-channel business by 2030. Along with investments in digital experience, value and assortment, the chain expects to open 300 new stores in coming years. Target will open about 20 new stores and remodel several others this year.

Of the 2,000 stores across the U.S., Target has 52 sites in New Jersey. According the retailer, most Americans live within 10 miles of a Target. The chain says it determines new locations based on factors like community need, site constraints and proximity to other area stores.
