Yankees strike partnership with NJ university

Just as baseball season gets into full swing, Kean University announced a new partnership with the New York .

The collaboration marks the latest between Kean and an area professional sports teams. The higher education institution notes the academic and career opportunities created for students by integrating professional sports into the educational experience. The university also has existing with the New York Jets, New Jersey Devils and New York Red Bulls.

“Partnering with the New York Yankees is an incredible opportunity for Kean students,” said university President Lamont Repollet.

Key details of the partnership include:
  • A project-based course centered on problem-solving real-world business and marketing topics presented by the Yankees. Developed with the team, the class will provide students with advanced insights into the business operations of professional sports. Additionally, personnel from the Yankees will actively participate.
  • Yankees will work with Kean’s Office of Career Services to identify internship as well as professional opportunities for Kean students.
  • Kean will have presence at Yankees Stadium – with permanent signage as well as LED signage during games throughout the season.

“By pairing Kean’s tradition of academic excellence with the Yankees’ legacy of success, this collaboration will provide our students with a first-class opportunity to explore the sports industry, engage in research and build valuable career pathways within the industry,” said Repollet.

Aryn Sobo, vice president, Human Resources, Employment and Labor Law, said that the Yankees are extremely excited about the partnership with Kean. She particularly highlighted the opportunity to work closely with students.

“Getting a foot in the door in the sports world can be extremely challenging for students and recent graduates entering the workforce,” said Sobo. “Being able to interact, engage and collaborate with our front office employees will greatly benefit Kean students as they create and navigate their path in the industry.”
