Another celebrity-backed dispensary is joining the legalized cannabis scene in New Jersey.
The Medicine Woman plans to hold a March 27 soft launch at 660 Tonnelle Ave. in Jersey City. Rapper and actor Ice-T and former Playboy model-turned-cannapreneur Charis Burrett co-own the shop.
In an announcement on social media, Ice-T said customers who show his post to budtenders on opening day will receive 25% off their purchase. There will also be giveaways of gift bags and other surprises to first shoppers, he said.
A full grand opening celebration of the 5,000-square-foot storefront will take place April 19, Ice-T also said.

Burrett and her husband, Luke Burrett, founded The Medicine Woman in 2019 as a California-based nonprofit that delivered cannabis to patients. Since then, the business has expanded to offer more than 100 products, debuted a private-label line and launched its first storefront in Bellflower, Calif.
The Medicine Woman secured approval from the Jersey City cannabis control board in July 2022. The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission signed off on the business’s Class 5 Retailer license in January 2024.
Ice-T, also known as Tracy Lauren Marrow, has described the upcoming opening as a full circle moment.
After being born in Newark, he grew up in Summit and now lives in Edgewater. Besides earning recognition as a musician, Ice-T is known as one of TV’s most famous cops thanks to his long-running role on NBC’s “Law & Order.”
When Jersey City officials greenlit The Medicine Woman’s application, he issued a statement saying, “I’ve dedicated my life and career to giving back and paving the way for minorities. As a New Jersey native, I’m excited for the opportunity legalization offers our community, and I look forward to ushering in a new era for cannabis in the state.”
Ice-T went on to describe his longtime friend Burrett as “an authority in cannabis.” He said she will help “ensure a premium experience for our customers and community.”
In addition to New Jersey-based cannabis brands, The Medicine Woman will offer accessories and limited edition merchandise.
Burrett has said “giving back to our community has and will always be a priority to us.”
“We are passionately devoted to providing access to safe, affordable and quality plant medicinal remedies,” she has said. “Partnering with Ice T to bring The Medicine Woman to New Jersey is a meaningful extension of our mission.”
The Medicine Woman also committed to hiring locally, as well as partnering with local charities, like The Last Prisoner Project, Jersey City Mural and Arts Program, Jersey City Employment and Training Program and Hudson County Community College.
