Jenkinson’s Boardwalk plans to unveil a red, white and blue-themed roller coaster just in time for America’s 250th birthday next year.
Scheduled to debut during the summer 2026 season, Patriot’s Run will feature conventional trains, a classic lift hill and an “exhilarating cycle of twists, turns and thrills for all ages,” the Point Pleasant amusement park operator said.
Of the 28 rides at Jenkinson’s, the majority are designed with younger children and families in mind, the park said. However, Patriot’s Run “marks a new chapter by introducing an attraction that appeals to a more adventurous audience while still remaining family-oriented and accessible for riders of different ages,” Jenkinson’s said.
At the nearly 100-year-old destination, Patriot’s Run is replacing the longtime fan favorite Tidal Wave, according to the park. The upcoming ride’s design also serves a nod to the Flitzer, a beloved coaster that once occupied the very same spot before the Tidal Wave, Jenkinson’s said.
Alex Taylor, Jenkinson’s marketing and brand manager, shared, “Patriot’s Run shares many similarities with the Flitzer in both style and spirit … The Flitzer cars featured race car flames, and we’ve carried that forward by incorporating an American flag–themed flame on our new coaster. When it came to theming, we explored a variety of concepts, but the idea of celebrating America stood out—especially with the upcoming America 250 next year.”
“Patriot’s Run will not only celebrate America’s 250th milestone, but also provide guests with a ride experience that balances adventure and family fun—perfect for thrill-seekers and younger riders alike,” Taylor said.
In New Jersey, planning for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution next year has been underway for some time.
Across the state, historic sites, nonprofits and tourism officials are intent on gaining recognition of the state’s role in America’s founding.
And with major sports events like the FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium next summer, the state’s hospitality sector wants to make sure it’s ready to capitalize on the expected influx of visitors. Other happenings in the region in 2026 include the Sail4th 250 maritime celebration in the Port of New York and New Jersey as well as the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Philadelphia.
