Discount fashion chain Nordstrom Rack is continuing to expand across New Jersey.
After signing a lease for a 27,000-square-foot space at Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick, the retailer expects to open by fall 2026, according to a Feb. 19 announcement.
Nordstrom Rack offers discounts of up to 70% on apparel, accessories, beauty, shoes and home goods. The sister brand of luxury department store Nordstrom represents about three-fourths of the Seattle-based brands 390-plus stores nationwide. Amid rising demand for the off-price concept, the retailer continues to expand Nordstrom Rack. It added about 20 locations last year.
Within New Jersey, the company operates four Nordstroms and nine Nordstrom Racks. Together, the banners account for more than 1,500 jobs statewide, the chain said.
The company also recently revealed plans to open Nordstrom Rack outposts at Willow Ridge Plaza in Marlton and Deptford Town Center in Deptford. Fall 2026 grand openings are planned.
This week’s announcement comes two months after Brunswick Square Mall kicked off a multiyear project to transform the 55-year-old indoor shopping center into a modern, open-air, mixed-use property anchored by retail, entertainment and health-oriented services.
After acquiring the struggling site in 2023 for an undisclosed sum, new owners Paramount Realty and Edgewood Properties unveiled a plan to replace much of the traditional enclosed mall with retail storefronts facing Route 18, pedestrian-friendly walkaways and updated facades.
A mix of new tenants will open at Brunswick Square, while existing occupants will relocate to updated “right-sized” spaces.
In addition to preserving popular destinations, like Barnes & Noble, Macy’s Clearence Store, JCPenney and AMC Theatres, the redevelopment will introduce a slate of new tenants, such as PGA Tour Superstore, J. Crew, Hackensack Meridian Health, Sola Salon and The Picklr indoor pickleball courts,TAPInto East Brunswick reported.
Paramount Realty CEO and President Maurice Zekaria said, “We are very excited to welcome a nationally respected retailer like Nordstrom Rack to our revitalized Brunswick Square.”
“Their reputation for delivering great brands and outstanding value makes them a terrific addition to the merchandising mix we’re building, and we think the local community is going to love having them here. Their commitment to quality aligns perfectly with the new energy and direction of Brunswick Square,” he said.
Nordstrom Rack President Gemma Lionello added, “We look forward to being a part of the East Brunswick community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices. We’re excited to grow our footprint in the greater New York market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience.”
