Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is preparing to open its fifth New Jersey restaurant.

Located at 2418 Route 1 in North Brunswick, the retro-themed quick-service chain will begin serving up its signature cooked-to-order steakburgers, all-beef hot dogs, shoestring fries and freshly churned frozen custard in early June, according to a press release.

The announcement did not include a grand opening date.

Franchisee Ethan Coleman said, “We’re very excited about opening in North Brunswick after the reception we’ve had in Linden. Not just because our food is so good. We are really looking forward to being a part of the community, serving families, schools, local businesses and anyone who loves a great steakburger or frozen custard!”

The 2,800-square-foot eatery will seat 75 guests and offer drive-thru service. Mobile ordering through the brand’s app and website will also be available.

Founded 23 years ago in Wichita, Kan., Freddy’s now has over 530 outposts in 36 states. As part of a plan to reach 800 units by 2026, the brand is targeting key markets that include New Jersey, Washington, Illinois, Iowa and Texas.

Locally, Freddy’s has launched in Cinnaminson, Linden, Burlington and Toms River over the past three years.

The chain also plans to add four eateries in Monmouth County as part of a development deal with franchisee Peter Labib. The locations have not yet been announced.
