A state-of-the-art immersive attraction featuring Sesame Street and its beloved characters will make its U.S. debut in New Jersey.

Scheduled to open Nov. 16 at American Dream, the 13,000-square-foot Sesame Street Learn & Play experience aims to offer fun for guests of all ages.

The upcoming attraction is a collaboration with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street.

Visitors will be able to learn about the rainforest in Elmo’s World or role-play a shopping experience in Hooper’s Store. They can also explore Abby Cadabby’s magical garden or share laughs with Bert and Ernie.

Additionally, Sesame Street Learn & Play will offer arts & crafts, story time with Big Bird and surprise appearances from Abby and Elmo. Photo opportunities in front of the 123 stoop and Oscar’s trash can will be available, too.

Other features include:

• A bike shop to learn about cause and effect with cranks and gears
• A playground that lets kids discover fun facts about nature
• A separate toddler play area for younger guests
• Party rooms for booking events
• Sesame Street retail store

To mark the grand opening, the Meadowlands megamall plans to host a Nov. 16 celebration. As part of the festivities, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will follow an 11 a.m. parade.

Tickets for adults and children are $26 each. Guests under the age of 2 will be admitted for free.

Educational and memorable

Jennifer Ahearn, Sesame Workshop’s senior vice president of global strategic partnerships & themed entertainment, commented, “Combining our 50+ years of engaging educational content, starring the most beloved characters in children’s media, with American Dream’s expertise in building high quality experiential offerings, we’re excited to introduce Sesame Street Learn & Play to children and families.”

Editor’s note: Organizers shared with NJBIZ that the grand opening celebration will now take place Nov. 16 due to a change in the New York Jets’ schedule. The Jets will face the Indianapolis Colts at 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at nearby MetLife Stadium.
