Union Bar & Provisions is preparing to join the dining scene in East Rutherford.

Located adjacent to the NJ Transit train station, the modern two-level tavern at 170 Union Ave. offers elevated comfort food and handcrafted cocktails.

At Union Bar & Provisions, the made-from-scratch menu revolves around fresh, local ingredients. Options include signatures such as steak frites, lobster rolls and burgers. From the marble-topped bar, patrons can choose from a selection of 10 rotating tap beers and classic cocktails, such as espresso martinis and margaritas.

Along with two dining rooms, the restaurant features a full-service outdoor patio; televisions for game day; private event areas for corporate functions, special occasions and social gatherings; and ample on-site parking.

In East Rutherford, Union Bar & Provisions takes over a property that once housed Railroad Café. It marks one of the municipality’s first newly built standalone restaurants in many years.

Co-owners Patrick Dunne and William Murray said the concept for Union Bar & Provisions “was built on a simple idea: take the food and drinks people love and make them the best they’ve ever had.”

“Every dish and cocktail is crafted with care and quality ingredients. It’s the kind of place we’re excited to spend time in—and even more excited to share with the community,” they said.

Following its Aug. 8 grand opening, Union Bar & Provisions will operate Sunday through Wednesday, 4–10 p.m.; and Thursday through Saturday, 4 p.m.–midnight. Happy Hour will run 4–6 p.m.

Starting Sept. 2, the restaurant will update its hours to Sunday through Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m.; and Thursday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m.–midnight. Union Bar & Provisions plans to offer brunch on weekends.
