Jinya Ramen Bar is preparing to unveil its second restaurant in New Jersey.
The 2,000-square-foot space is scheduled to open this spring at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack.
Jinya is a California-born contemporary dining concept. The eatery serves specialty ramen made in long-simmered broths, Japanese-inspired tacos, rice bowls, curry and other small plate items. It also serves authentic Japanese beers and liquor along with offerings from local breweries.
Since its 2010 founding, the franchise has grown to more than 65 restaurants in North America. On the East Coast, it has locations in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Washington, D.C
Doherty is considered one of the largest foodservice companies in the U.S. as well as among the largest privately held businesses in New Jersey. Its portfolio of more than 160 restaurants includes popular national brands.
Jinya made its New Jersey debut in Totowa in September 2024 through a partnership with Allendale-headquartered restaurant group Doherty Enterprises Inc. The upcoming outpost at the Shops at Riverside marks the second developed by the group.

During a recent interview with NJBIZ, Doherty President and COO Tim Doherty said they’re excited to introduce Jinya locally and thinks “there’s a good opportunity to grow that – hopefully over the next five to seven years within the New York-New Jersey area.”
At Simon Property Group-owned The Shops at Riverside, Jinya joins a dining mix that includes Capon’s Chophouse, The Cheesecake Factory, Houston’s, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Morton’s Steakhouse, Rosa Mexicano, P.F. Chang’s, Sweetgreen and True Food Kitchen.
