Profeta founded Paul V. Profeta & Associates Inc. in 1976, since working as a “value added” investor and developer. With the business based in West Orange, Profeta has properties nationwide, including a 300,000-square-foot warehouse in Columbus, Ohio, built for Amazon. Closer to home, Profeta owns 125 acres located at Exit 8 in East Windsor. Contiguous to the New Jersey Turnpike, according to the firm the site is entitled for more than 1 million square feet.
Profeta is also an academic. Beyond teaching himself, his work and contributions have helped establish real estate education programs and initiatives. A guest lecturer at Harvard Business School, Profeta also co-founded the Real Estate Department at Columbia Business School, where he taught for 10 years. Profeta also endowed the Chaired Real Estate Professorship at Rutgers Business School while establishing the Rutgers Real Estate center around the post. Currently, more than 1,000 students take classes through the center at Rutgers’ Newark and New Brunswick campuses.
Most recently, Profeta created the Real Estate Center at NJIT, as well as a Minority Enterprise center where he also teaches. Profeta’s work to educate and promote took on another scope, as well, in 2016 when he founded New Jersey’s first magazine focused solely on commercial real estate. Since, RE-NJ (with NJBIZ alum Josh Burd at the lead) has established itself as a standout for informing and covering the sector.
