DMR Architects

A member of the DMR Architects team since 2001, Kapoor initially joined as a job captain, then advanced to roles that included project manager, director of sustainable design, partner, chief operating officer and today, president and CEO.

Soon after joining the firm, Kapoor established himself as a talented architect and complex problem solver, taking on technically challenging projects in the early 2000s, including the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center, the Jersey City Annex, St. Joseph’s School for the Blind and numerous projects at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital — all of which required intricate coordination, advanced technologies and knowledge of the latest architectural trends.

His personal interest in sustainable design was the catalyst behind DMR becoming one of the earliest architects to embrace LEED certification and sustainable design as a practice area. Kapoor was among the earliest architects to receive LEED accreditation, becoming certified in 2003, the same year he pitched the vision of what would become Carlstadt Elementary School, the first LEED Silver public school in New Jersey. When he was named DMR’s first director of sustainable design, Kapoor oversaw a process that standardized the use of sustainable design elements into DMR projects, and a practice area that produced seven certified, silver and gold certified buildings.
