Associated Builders and Contractors New Jersey Chapter

Roman was 31 when she was appointed president of Associated Builders and Contractors New Jersey Chapter in April 2021. The youngest-ever person to hold that spot, she was already a seasoned public affairs professional with 10 years of experience in issues advocacy, politics, policy and state government.

ABC is the construction industry’s liaison to federal, state and local governments, and the public at large. And, with membership of some 1,300 Garden state merit-based firms, the New Jersey chapter is the organization’s largest. As the leader of one of the state’s most prominent trade associations, Roman leverages leadership capabilities and political expertise to effortlessly move between firms on the ground that are shaping the state’s landscape, and political leaders here and elsewhere, advocating for New Jersey’s construction industry.

Under her guidance, ABC-NJ runs significant outreach and workforce development programs, along with an apprenticeship program that today has more than 200 enrollees. She also works closely with educational institutions and statewide organizations — including the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey — to bring ABC-NJ’s apprenticeship training program to under-served communities throughout the state.
