New Jersey will soon be home to one of Bass Pro Shops‘ largest stores in the country.
Slated to open this fall at Riverton in Sayreville, the 200,000-square-foot space will establish the chain’s largest single-level location yet, Bass Pro announced June 19.
According to the Missouri-based brand, the upcoming location will combine retail with entertainment, outdoor education and conservation. Bass Pro said the key features will include:

Additionally, the store will offer several immersive exhibits and hands-on learning activities designed to connect visitors with the outdoors, Bass Pro said.
Along with fishing, hunting, camping and boating gear, the store will showcase industry-leading boat brands as well as a lineup of ATVs and side-by-side vehicles, according to the chain. And it will include a place to grab a bite, too. Earlier this year, Wahlburgers unveiled plans to open a spot at the forthcoming store via a partnership with Bass Pro. Brothers and actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and chef Paul Wahlberg founded the burger brand.
Ahead of the grand opening, Bass Pro is looking to hire 300 employees for the Sayreville store. The company plans to host hiring events June 24 and June 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Edison.

Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris shared, “We are honored to help create an unforgettable experience for families throughout the Tri-State Region. This location and concept will be unlike anything ever seen in the outdoor retail industry and truly opens a new chapter in the Bass Pro Shops story.”
“To be able to showcase the importance of conservation and help inspire passion for the outdoors with so many families is downright exciting,” he added.
Bass Pro was founded in 1972. Since then, it has grown from a small fishing tackle operation into a nearly 200-location retail chain. Bass is know for its destination-style stores, conservation focus and extension selection of outdoor gear.
The retailer made its in-state debut 11 years ago in Atlantic City. The store remains Bass Pro’s sole New Jersey store.
In Sayreville, Bass Pro will anchor a $2.5 billion mixed-use community under development at the former National Lead site on Chevalier Ave. QuickChek and Starbucks also have planned locations there, according to reports.
Located just off the Garden State Parkway, the 400-acre Riverton complex will eventually include office space, hotels, parks, walking trails, residential units, waterfront boardwalk and a marina.
