Under the leadership of Founders and Principals Furgal and Cheripka, Starfield Cos. provides services related to development and construction, asset management, operations and property dispositions. They like to say that where other developers see impossibilities, Starfield sees opportunities.

The firm was formed by the merger of iStar and Safehold and the creation of Star Holdings (the parent company of iStar Residential). Starfield was established in part to help complete iStar Residential’s redevelopment efforts in selected markets, including Asbury Park. Furgal’s and Cheripka’s approach involves thinking about people before structures, and about spaces before square footage – carefully crafting and curating residential and urban spaces, hotels, and businesses that inspire and seamlessly integrate into their respective communities.

It’s a strategy that’s led to successful projects, like Asbury Ocean Club Surfside Resort and Residences. The 17-story mixed-use high rise features a 54-room boutique hotel, 130 luxury residential homes, 24,000 square feet of retail space, and amenities that include a gym and spa, and public parking spaces. Starfield’s roots in reshaping and reviving neighborhoods stretch back more a decade with the principals’ leadership as executives of iStar and the master developer in the ambitious urban-revival Asbury Park Waterfront redevelopment project.
