Based in Teaneck, Interstate Waste Services offers trash pickup, dumpster rentals, and recycling services to business and residential customers throughout New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Since its founding in 1999 by Mike DiBella, IWS has grown into a $750 million industry leader with a fleet of 900 collection vehicles serviced by a network of material recovery, transfer, transload facilities and a rail-served solid waste landfill. Over the past two decades, IWS has completed over 30 acquisitions, many of whom were family-owned and continue to work at the company today.

Reflecting on IWS’ 25th anniversary, DiBella said, “We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, but this is just the beginning. Looking to the next 25 years, we’re focused on growing IWS’ presence throughout the Northeast, using our innovative approach to waste management to create a more sustainable future for generations to come.”

This year’s strategic acquisitions – which include Oak Ridge Waste & Recycling in Connecticut and Marangi Disposal in upstate New York – have expanded IWS’ reach and operational efficiency across the tri-state area.

Complementing this growth is the completion of a $17 million railcar unloading facility at the company’s Apex landfill in Ohio. IWS’ advanced waste-by-rail system eliminates 20 million truck miles annually, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and easing congestion on regional roads.

In New Jersey, IWS is preparing to launch one of the most advanced recycling centers in the country. Located in North Arlington, the $30 million facility features AI-powered sorting technology and the region’s only glass cleanup system. With the capacity to recycle 350,400 tons annually, the facility will strengthen the region’s recycling infrastructure, create jobs, and boost economic activity in the community.
