New Jersey Performing Arts Center

The second president and CEO of New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, Schreiber has overseen the evolution of what the arts can bring and mean for a community. As a local anchor institution, NJPAC has helped firmly establish the arts and culture the state’s largest city is known for. Now, Schreiber is leading efforts with collaborators to embellish that reputation.

NJPAC’s $336 million project officially broke ground in September. It will create a mixed-use, mixed-income residential complex; a new education and community center; a redesigned Chambers Plaza; public green space; and more. At the same time, NJPAC isn’t missing a beat, pun intended, in its mission to present and engage with the arts. The venue presents and produces more than 650 events each year, reaching 100,000 children and families. Schreiber has helped build NJPAC into the powerhouse it is, growing the organization’s budget from $25 million to $65 million, as well as its outreach efforts.

Elsewhere in the city, NJPAC is also helping bring the stage to the screen, partnering with the Newark Housing Authority and Great Point Studios to bring a Lionsgate TV and film studio in the city’s South Ward. Meanwhile, this summer, the three-city North 2 Shore Festival returns for its third year highlighting homegrown talent and innovation across New Jersey.
