Under Lewis’ tenure as chair and CEO of Insmed, the global biopharmaceutical — which focuses on serious and rare diseases — has seen its market cap leap from about $3 billion at the end of 2022 to some $14 billion near the end of January 2025.
Lewis’ management philosophy – “people make a company successful; nurture talent and celebrate people’s efforts, not just their successes” – has helped steer the company toward a potential second product approval, a rare feat in the biotech sector where only 1-in100 companies achieve even a single approval.
As part of the company’s quest to deliver “first- and best-in-class” treatments for debilitating diseases, he has encouraged the use of AI to help Insmed researchers develop next-generation therapies. He also gives back, with initiatives like the annual “Global Day of Good,” where Insmed’s nearly 1,300 employees worldwide engage in community service.
Lewis’ leadership extends beyond Insmed: he chairs the board of New Amsterdam Pharma, previously chaired the board of BioNJ, and is deeply involved in the charitable Community Hope foundation.
